Deed Transfer Tax increase in the Town of Lunenburg

The Town of Lunenburg is increasing its Deed Transfer Tax rate from 1% to 1.5% of the pre-tax purchase price of all properties effective August 1, 2021. Deed transfer tax must be paid by the purchasers of any land in the township before the Land Registration Office will record a deed.

If you have signed an Agreement of Purchase & Sale for property within the Town of Lunenburg prior to August 1, 2021, your purchase will be subject to the previous Deed Transfer Tax rate of 1%. Any Agreements entered into on or after August 1, 2021 will be subject to the rate of 1.5% of the pre-tax purchase price.
